ISSUE
#17 AUGUST 2006
Um, hi
folks. I'm not dead. Just... resting.
But to
make up for it, this new issues includes a ton of cool new
fiction from some fantastic authors. Three new stories. Tons
of reviews, too. And a few small changes here and there.
We had
some interviews planned and may update the site soon with
them if I ever get round to them.
And I
am aware we have a HUGE backlog of submissions stretching
back months longer than we intended. We never saw the site
being so popular but we are trying to catch up as fast as
we can. If you think you've had an unreasonably long waiting
period, please write to us and we'll see where you are in
the queue. There are new contact details so please check 'em
out. And yes, we plan on starting a mailing list for books/publishers
who might appeal to the Crime Scene Scotland audiences, but
it'll be an opt in so please sign up, because I assure you,
we'll only let stuff that interests us through. We're also
considering putting ads on some of the main pages, too. On
a pay per-ad basis, so if anyone wants a slice of that, contact
us and we'll see what we can do. There's no set price barrier
yet, but remember, you're reaching a potentially large audience
and we do need a small amount of cash to keep going.
You'll
notice, on a related note, that the community link is being
phased out. Its a lost cause, so in its place will be mailing
lists about CSS which we ask you to join up to. You'll be
kept up to date on all the latest news from not just the zine
but (we hope) the crime fiction world in general. All this
is being worked out as we speak but will be functioning very
soon. Keep an eye on http://www.crimescenescotlandreviews.blogspot.com
and http://www.theseayemeanstreets.blogspot.com for more details!
In the
next few weeks I (Russel) will be at Bouchercon. Watch out
for my panel on the Thursday at 12:30, where I will be alongside
Al Guthrie, Duane Swierczynski, Chris Knopf and Michael Robotham
talking about X-Treme Writing.
In the
meantime, keep writing, keep talking, keep reading.
Till next
time
Russel
